Abe Lincoln Pillow

I made this pillow from a pattern by Primitive Needleworks. I stitched it on tea and coffee stained even weave in one over two fashion and firmly stuffed it. I backed it with a beautiful brown printed Moda fabric which is pictured behind it. It measures approx. 7 ½ in. high by 9 in. wide.

Freedom Pinkeep Pillow

This pinkeep pillow was stitched using a pattern by Stacy Nash. I stitched it on tea and coffee stained evenweave in one thread over two style. It measures approx. 5 in. wide by 8 in. high and it is backed in a brown and tan check fabric.

Garden Thieves

I wasn’t sure about these guys when I first started them, but once I got going on them, I couldn’t help but fall in love with them!

These little mice were made from a Kentucky Primitives pattern. They were sewn from muslin and are stained, painted, and sanded for a great old look. They have sewn on seed bead eyes, stick legs, and rusty wire tails. One totes a carrot on it’s back and the other is carrying 2 strawberries from your garden! lol Each one measures approx. 7 inches long by 5½- 6 in. high.

They would look great on your covered porch (out of the weather) or in your kitchen. I think these would be perfect to use all Summer and even into the Fall season. The strawberries and carrot are simply wired on and can be removed if you wish. Wouldn’t these little guys look great standing with your pumpkins and Fall decorations, too?

And because I love ‘dual season decorations’, I have made a set of Squirrels from a Walnut Ridge Primitives pattern.

These primitive squirrels were sewn from muslin and stained, painted, spice rubbed, and baked in the sun. They have hand sewn button eyes. From it’s widest points, the squirrel that is sitting up measures approx. 10 in. wide by 7½ in. tall. The one standing on all four legs measures approx. 11½ in. long by 7½ tall to the top of it’s tail. These are good sized critters!

These would be a great addition to your Summertime porch (out of the weather) tucked in amongst your flower pots. They also would look perfect into the fall season standing around your pumpkins and Fall decorations.

I made these Fat Cats from a Catnap Primitives pattern.

These were sewn from muslin and also stained, painted, baked in the sun, and then sanded. They have hand sewn noses and button eyes, and measure approx. 10½ in. wide by 10 in. high. I used rusty wire to form their whiskers and they have a rusty bell hanging around their necks so if they wander off, you will be able to hear them *Ü*

My cats love to sit on my chairs on the porch and so do these guys! What a welcoming sight for your guests!

Americana Offerings

I have finally finished and framed a few offerings for your consideration- it’s been far too long.

This is Crow Basket- from an older pattern by Lori Brechlin.

I stitched this design, in one over two fashion, on 28 count tea colored linen- my absolute favorite to use! I did not tea stain this piece, for I love the ‘old’ look that the linen already has. A basket, bittersweet, a crow, and a flag….can it get any more Americana? There are a LOT of stitches in the base of that basket and bittersweet branches! The waving flag tops it off and makes it a great Americana piece.

I placed this piece in a wall frame that measures 8 1/4 inches wide x 7 1/4 inches high. It is painted black over dark green and has been distressed and stained. The dark green barely peeks through in a few places. It will come to you in this frame with glass. It will have a papered back and will be signed and dated by me.

Abe Lincoln Schoolgirl Sampler

This one was love at first sight! This was made from a Primitive Needleworks pattern.

This sampler was stitched on 28 count tea colored linen in the one over two style. It features Abe, his dog, a cabin, and an apple tree.

I placed this piece in an 8 x 10 frame that has been painted black and has been distressed and stained. Glass is included. This piece can either stand on your mantle or shelf , or it can be hung on your wall. It’s a nice sized piece which makes it really stand out. With the stars and stripes, it is the perfect piece to fit into your patriotic decor or can be used to decorate for the upcoming summer holidays.

~Except This Posey~

This 5 x 7 inch picture was stitched from a Pineberry Lane design.

The word ‘Except’ is intentionally misspelled in keeping with the original verse from 1819.

I stitched this on 28 count even weave in both one over one and one over two stitches. The wording is all done in one over one- that was a lot of stitches in such a small size! lol It also was designed to be stitched in brown and green- the top 2 lines are done in green, the word ‘whose’ is a bit mixed, and the bottom part is done in brown…you may be able to tell if you enlarge the picture. This picture features the verse, a girl with flower, and keys. This standing frame measures 5”x7” and has been painted black, sanded, and then stained. I left the glass out in the pictures I took, to eliminate glare. It will come to you with glass in.

This picture would look great amongst any primitives or antiques.

~Red Flowering Pillow~

I stitched this little pillow using a design from Primitive Stitchin.

It is stitched on 28 count even weave in one thread over two thread fashion. It measures approximately 6 inches x 6 inches on the sides. I’ve never explained this before, but the sides measure longer than across the middle. Across the middle this measures approximately 5 1/2 inches x 5 1/2 inches.

I backed it with some beautiful quality fabric that I picked up at the quilt shop yesterday.

It wasn’t intentional, but the stitched flowers look almost exactly like the flowers on the fabric!

This pillow is rag stuffed for a nice weighty feel.

This weekends last offering, you may recognize…

This is the design I used to stitch the Early Bluebird Picture from last weekend. This is the full design by Stacy Nash. I stitched this one on 28 count even weave using one thread over two. It has been stained and baked for that nice old appearance.

It features a bluebird, flower, partial alphabet, and the word Ohio and the year 1846. I backed it with another wonderful piece of quality fabric from the quilt shop.

The fabric is beside the pillow, but hard to tell the real colors on here. The whole pillow is much darker, and backed with a beautiful deep blue (almost navy) flower print . It is rag stuffed and measures approximately 5 1/2 inches wide and 5 inches tall – middle measurements.

For your consideration is this beautiful picture made from part of a design from Stacy Nash.

This Early Style Bluebird picture was stitched on 28 count even weave in one over two fashion and has been lightly tea stained. It features a bluebird, a flower, the date 1846, and the word Ohio. Being from Ohio myself, I love this piece! I placed it in a pine frame that I have painted my favorite color of old looking blue which has been sanded, distressed, and then stained. The outside size of the frame measures approximately 8 1/2 inches wide by 6 1/4 high. It does not come with glass. I took great care to make this simple picture and frame as nice as possible.

I have backed this picture with some fabric which I have hand sewn on (scroll down to my next offering for further pictures of how this was made). The frame can stand on a shelf or table as shown above, or you can remove the standing peg, lift the tabs, pop out the picture and turn it upside down to use the peg hole to hang it on the wall!

I also have another spring themed piece that I made in the same way!

This design was taken from a Pineberry Lane pattern called Two Hares Marking Sampler. It was intended for use on a round box, but it was so perfect for this frame!

I stitched this piece on 28 count tea colored linen. The stitches, which are tan and blue colors, were done in both one over one and one over two.

This also has been backed with fabric that has been hand stitched on.

It has been placed in a pine frame that measures almost 8 inches by 8 inches square. I painted it mushroom colored, sanded it, distressed it, and then stained it. This frame does not come with glass, and can also be hung using the peg hole- same as the directions for the above offering.

I hung it on an existing nail to take a picture for you to see :-)

For your consideration, I have stitched up this Friend Pinkeep from a wonderful little design by Pineberry Lane.

I stitched this pinkeep on 28 count even weave and rag stuffed it. This pinkeep measures 6 inches wide by 3 inches high- a great size to also use on a shelf or in a cupboard!

The large keys are done in one over two and the word Friend, the lady, and the flower are done in one over one….which I had not tried yet- it was much harder on the ole eyes!

I backed it in the fabric shown and then stained and baked it for that wonderful old look.

I love this saying! I stitched this sampler on 28 count tea colored linen- my personal favorite! It is done in one over two and measures approximately 10 inches wide by 7 inches high- a great size to sit on an old ladder back chair or display it with your best prim dolls. I backed it in the fabric shown and it is also rag stuffed for a nice lumpy feel. I did not stain this pillow- I love the tea colored linen so much- it is so beautiful as is!

Valentine Tuck

I have worked on this all day and finally was satisfied with the outcome!

This St. Valentine tuck measures 5 inches by 5 inches and it is of my own design! It has been lightly stained and comes with a hanging loop. I stitched it in my typical one over two on 28 count evenweave and backed it with red striped ticking.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner (we all know how fast Christmas sneaks up on us! lol) so this is the perfect little thing to help fill in those empty spaces left from taking down Christmas.

Hang it on a peg rack, tuck it on a cupboard shelf, set it on your prairie doll’s lap…

Happy 2010, my friends!

O Christmas Tree

This is a wonderful cupboard tuck I made using a pattern by Jenny Hoffman. It measures almost 5” x 7” and I stuffed it with the sawdust from the wood my hubs cut to heat our home this winter. I stitched it, one strand over two, on tea colored 28 count Irish linen. That linen is such a beautiful fabric as it is, but I coffee stained it to give it a more aged effect.

I love the feeling it depicts of a simpler time when it was common practice to go out into the woods to pick out the perfect tree.

I really love the way this turned out! With some patterns, I have to think about for a little while to decided if I want to spend the money for them. NOT THIS ONE! I knew as soon as I saw it that I had to stitch this one!

A bit of Fall, and Christmas too!

I can’t believe that I have been so busy with orders, that I have not listed anything new on here in a month! I do have a few new items to offer today! I have been working on these for awhile now, but felt that my orders deserved to get much more attention. I finally put the final stitches in this morning, and wanted to put them up a soon as I could.

First is my last fall item for offering. I made this using a design from Primitive Stitchin’. I stitched it on even weave and made this into a sweet pillow that measures 6” x 8”.

It features a little cabin with pumpkins and corn decorations. The year is 1804. You can probably click the picture to get a bigger view. I just adore the little corn shocks! It has been stained to look old and would fit in well with your primitives and antiques. I dug through my stash and found this wonderful black, orange, and white plaid fabric to sew the pillow from, and then rag stuffed it for a nice lumpy feel. It would look wonderful sitting on a cupboard or tucked in with your doll collection. I have to be honest with you- if this doesn’t sell, I won’t be sorry! lol I absolutely love it! If it does, Thanks so much- and I’ll just have to make another!

It features a cute little saying and a girl with 2 geese. I sewed it into a little pillow and backed it with a tan, black, and red plaid, homespun fabric from my stash. Harvest Time Cupboard Tuck

Today I am offering a design of my own. This sweet little cupboard tuck measures 4” x 7” and is stuffed with sawdust from the wood my husband cuts to heat our home. I stitched it , one thread over two, on 28 count even weave and back it with a wonderful, golden, plaid material-very fitting for the colors of the season.

It features a harvest verse, a log cabin, a squash, pumpkins, corn, and a moon. I stained and baked it for that old look we all love.

This Child’s Pocket was made using a pattern by Shelly Auen. I just love the simplicity of it! I stitched this on osnaburg for the front and backed it with a green and red plaid flannel.

Hang it on your peg rack with some of your greens for the holiday.

This little pocket hangs from your peg by a leather tie, and has a little finger hole for a child to slip little found treasures in!

A Pouch for your Spells

I have just finished this wonderful little sewing pouch from a design by Stacy Nash. Use it to hold a few little sewing items, some drieds, or to hold some ingredients for your spells!

I have stitched it on a piece of Irish Linen and the handle and backside is a nice black and tan check. The short handle makes it perfect for hanging on a peg rack or cupboard door handle.

This pouch measures 5 1/2 “ by 6 1/2” without the handle. It will hang 6” below your peg .

It has been in the works for awhile, but I finally have had time to get this thing off the ground!

I am offering this wonderful October 31 Pincushion made from a Stacy Nash pattern-it’s perfect for fall decorating. I stitched it on evenweave and it measures 4”x 5” . It is rag stuffed for that nice lumpy feel, and stained to look old- it will fit right in with your primitive decor! I also added a rusty pin holding an old looking button from my stash.

To celebrate this as my first offering, I am including this little tin mold for all of those who love the looks of those pantry cakes!
